Some assessment packages are available from the Internet; others may be accessed through the state education agencies. Use reviews from long-term users to determine what package or variety of packages might be useful for your specific program and content. The frequency of assessment may still mean that the daily items are created by the classroom teachers. Technology can be employed as a testing vehicle.

Mistakes

While inter-rater reliability (consistency of ratings between various teachers of the same course) may be a concern when dealing with teacher-created assessment material, it should not be an overriding factor that dismisses that form of evaluation. There may be some variation in teacher assessments and grading, but discussion within the PLCs will tend to narrow any wide variations in the rigor and/or quality of assessments.
